Bhavana literally means to cultivate, develop, and produce. It is a Sanskrit term that is a core tenant of our brewing philosophy.
Why not?
We wanted to be more than a taproom – we wanted to nourish our community. We do that through our hospitality, cuisine, and a setting that’s as comfortable as a living room where locals and travelers can find comfort and inspiration. Along the back wall you’ll find a bookshelf that has been populated by books our community has placed on the shelves since we opened. It’s a reflection of who we are, what we aspire to, and perspectives that show how diverse and dynamic the city of Raleigh truly is. Our flower shop expresses the beautify and growth we think is reflected in our beers. Fragrance, structure, expression, and the tending-to required by our makers at the brewery. They also service as a lovely moment of your time here at Bhavana – a memory you can take home, water, nurture, and reflect on.
First and foremost, these traditions are a synthesis of life experiences of our team. As avid travelers and adventure seekers, we’ve spent our formative years inspired by the cuisines and the people we’ve collectively shared meals with throughout the world. Our love of Belgian ales has pushed us to hone our craft, understand balance and beauty in beer, and to create a space where these two inspiration points complement each other in an elegant way. The unique texture, balance, and nuance of Bhavana’s beers perfectly integrates with the comforting, bright, and spicy flavors of Dim Sum and Chinese cuisine. And if you’re ever lucky enough to witness the preparation of these dishes, you’ll see the hand of the maker in everything we do.
Absolutely! Even if our reservations are fully booked we always have walk-ins.
All of our beer is made at our production brewery located two miles south of the restaurant taproom. The production facility is a 30,000 sq. ft manufacturing space with a 15 bbl 4-vessel brew house and an expanding cooperage of wine barrels, puncheons, and foeders. It currently is not open to the public.
We are unable to accommodate more people once a reservation is set.
Yes! Our market located in the middle of Bhavana is open regardless of reservations and sells to-go beer, merchandise, flowers, and books.
Of course! We have a small kids section in our community library for children to enjoy.
We have a full kitchen at our taproom and restaurant. As a result, dogs are not allowed inside of Bhavana due to North Carolina law.

We are able to fill Brewery Bhavana branded labels, which we sell at our restaurant. We do not accept other growlers or growlers for return. We are able to re-fill and re-use your empty, clean growlers.

We recommend you drink your growler within one to two weeks when kept unopened and refrigerated. Once a growler has been opened, it should be drank within two days. All IPA’s should be drank as soon as possible to enjoy maximum freshness of the hops.

All varieties differ, but each can has a date stamp on the bottom. In general, all IPA’s are best within 3-6 months. Our Belgian beers are best within 1 year. Our barrel aged beers can age for 1-3 years.
